Learn how to safely and effectively employ a modern carbine. Level 1.5 courses are for those who have some prior formal training and want to drill the fundamentals (if you have little to no experience using a carbine, please wait to register for a level 1 course). This is a formal class for which attendees who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate. Level 1/1.5 courses are pre-requisites for all subsequent carbine/rifle classes.

  • Fundamental rifle concepts (height over bore, hold-overs, sighting, etc.)
  • Basic function and manipulation of your firearm
  • Proper stance and form
  • Shooting from multiple positions
  • Reload (emergency, tactical, administrative)
  • Diagnosing and resolving stoppages
  • Much more!

Required Gear

  • Functioning and well maintained carbine (AR-15, AK47, or similar) in a case.
  • Sling
  • A minimum of 3 spare magazines.
  • A minimum of 1 magazine pouch.
  • Sturdy belt (shooter’s belt, rigger’s belt, etc.).
  • At least 150 rounds of quality ammunition.
  • Eye protection
  • Ear protection (electronic is recommended).
  • Shooting mat
  • Close-toed shoes
  • Hydration
  • Snacks

Recommended Gear

  • Hat
  • Shemagh or other neck wrap to protect against sun and spent cartridges.
  • Sunscreen (The first portion of the class might be done in daylight)
  • Pants and long sleeve shirt.
  • First aid kit/IFAK
